KIWIS FOR KIWIS

New Zealand’s Kiwi population is in decline, with more than 27 Kiwi dying every week. Kiwis for Kiwis is working to enable Kiwi to flourish in their natural habitat, to take them from endangered to everywhere. We fund community-led Kiwi conservation groups to help with predator control, Kiwi population monitoring and community engagement, as well as providing access to expert knowledge, training, and education. We want to inspire a passion in all New Zealanders to join in the fight to save our national icon. Our goal is to reverse the current decline of Kiwi and start growing their numbers.

They work with food businesses, including supermarkets, wholesalers, producers, cafes, restaurants, and hotels, to rescue the good food that they are not able to sell – whether that is because of oversupply, damaged packaging, cancelled orders, mislabelling, or because the food is nearing its best before date or end of life.

So far, they’ve supported more than 70 waterway restoration projects across New Zealand, fundraising over $2 million.
